10th-12th November 2010, Trebinje, Bosnia and Herzegovina Full Size Project Inception Workshop GEF-UNDP-UNESCO Regional Project
At the global level this project aims to raise about the huge but vulnerable water resources contained in karst aquifers, which though widespread globally, are but poorly understood. At the regional level the project’s objectives are to facilitate the equitable and sustainable utilisation of the transboundary water resources of the Dinaric Karst Aquifer System, and protect the unique groundwater dependent ecosystems that characterise the Dinaric Karst region of the Balkan peninsula. Greece is a project partner and UNESCO Chair’s Prof. J. Ganoulis attended the workshop. http://www.unece.org/env/water/meetings/karst_croatia_2008/Kukuric_Protection%20and%20Use%20of%20Dinaric%20Karst%20Aquifers.pdf
